Workforce Development
GF AgieCharmilles
There are likely hundreds of skilled young manufacturing people who have Harry Moser to thank for finding their true calling. As an officer of NTMA (National Tooling and Machining Association) and president of Charmilles Technologies (now GF AgieCharmilles) for more than two decades, Harry spearheaded a national effort to support workforce development in the manufacturing sector. dgs has been fortunate to be there with him for seventeen of those years, actively coordinating sponsorships, participating in apprentice program meetings, writing speeches, developing marketing materials, and handling national, regional and local public relations activities. In addition to work with the NTMA, our outreach efforts have involved working with ISTMA (International Special Tooling and Machining Association) and AMTDA (American Machine Tool Distributors Association). These ongoing campaigns have targeted teens, parents, educators, and manufacturers alike, developing awareness for, and promoting the career opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Along the way, the positive messages that constitute the core of the campaign effort have been seen on television, heard on radio, and published in newspapers, trade and general business magazines, manufacturing association newsletters, and seen on numerous Web sites.
